Can you imagine life without a cell phone? No, one cannot. This device has become an integral part of most of our lives. It is everything for an individual from fashion statement to luxury, necessity to taste of technology and even substitute to a best friend.

Unfortunately, most people have taken their mobile phones for granted. They have never given a thought about the technology that exists behind this superb device that allows us to stay connected to our loved ones even when we are far away from them.

A cell phone service is actually based on a simple idea. It can be compared to a two-way radio. This radio is turned in to a circuit switched telephone network. In earlier days, wireless services were widely used by police officers, army men and security personnels.

A mobile phone has become easily accessible these days. One can easily afford these devices. You can purchase a decent cell phone for a price as low as rupees five thousand. If you are looking for expensive models, sky is the limit.

The prices of cell phone are going down because of the tough competition believes several cell phone providers, these days. When it covers to cell phones, smaller the phone, the greater is it's demand. The candy bar models are revolutionary invention under the category of cell phones. Some of the cell phones today, weigh just two hundred grams with battery. There are also phones that feature squat flip facility and open like communications we have seen in the old 'star track'. The best part is that these phones are ultra light and extremely easy to carry. They can be easily fit in to a pocket.

The batteries of mobile phones are also getting lighter. The latest invention is the lithium ion battery (Li-ion) and the lithium polymer batteries. These are considered to be of superior quality.

You need to take certain precautions when using your mobile phone in order to ensure that you do not harm it in any way. Here are some of the precautions you need to follow in this regard.

a) Never use the cell phone in heavy traffic. There are chances that you would lose it.

b) Internal corrosion may occur if your phone gets wet accidentally or if you dial the numbers with wet hands and water gets in to the buttons. Ensure that the phone is dry prior to switching it on.

c) Always secure your mobile phone with a safety belt in order to ensure that it does not fall of accidentally.

d) Don't snuff your phone with certain accessories available on the market. You may crack the display screens.

e) Extreme heat can cause a temporary loss of the display screen. Extreme cold can also cause some temporary damage to the display screen.

f) Try using memory dialing options. You should learn to use your phone without the need to look at it.
