Are Mobile Phones Getting Complex?

Mobile phone has become an everyday tool with most users having a tough time keeping up with the latest that technology has to offer. The addition of new features has helped consumers to carry put multiple tasks more so with the newly introduced smart phones.

They have slowly evolved from being mere phones to music players, personal digital assistant, and much more. The modern mobile phone can perform any task under the sun. The user friendly features have made them all the more indispensable to users. With the exception of techies most users are finding the use of mobile phones with advanced features a complicated task. The clear transition of phones from communication devices to data centers that store personal and even official data moving to a new handset becomes a long ordeal.

A survey conducted supports the fact that users are finding the handsets to be more complicated. The survey reaffirms the fact that despite development in mobile phones over the years, for most people, a mobile phone is what it is- a phone or a device intended for communication and occasional text messages. It does not however mean that most users do not want to use newer, data-oriented features?

As per the survey conducted by Mformation, a global provider of mobile device management (MDM) about 61% people found the task of setting up a new phone to be a more complex process than migrating to a new bank account. About 95% of the users feel they would try new data based services as it would make life easier for them.

Most users were extremely careful about the data stored in their old phones and feared the task of moving data from one device to another after a new purchase. They said it was usually not a very user-friendly process and was a factor that was limiting users from changing handsets frequently. At present there seems to be no uniformity in the data backup/restore task.

Each manufacturer has a different tool/software for the process. A whopping 78% of the users said that they would change handsets more frequently if only the migration from one device to another became simpler. Basic applications like instant messaging, e-mail, and picture messaging were considered a pain to set up owing to which as much as 61% customers have stopped using these applications.

Therefore it is not easy to infer if users think mobile phones are becoming complicated by the day and more difficult to handle. Individual opinions matter, therefore the process of completing the survey is still on.
