Nokia Launches 3 Mobile Phones in India: 2730 Classic, 2720 Fold & 7020

Nokia has successfully integrated the Internet with its mobile phones and has brought this technology to emerging markets. These new mobile phones bring the exciting world of information and entertainment closer to family and friends. Nokia has recently introduced the Nokia 2730 Classic, Nokia 2720 Fold and Nokia 7020 for India, which come as Internet ready and include Nokia's emerging market services like Nokia Life Tools and Ovi Mail. Managing over 35 percent of global sales, Nokia understands that globally developing markets such as India hold the key for high volume handset sales.

That the Internet is impacting people's lives in a big manner is confirmed by Alex Lambeek, Vice President at Nokia. He says "The power of the Internet is undeniable," "We've seen mobile technologies catalyze the growth of the informal sector across the world, empowering local entrepreneurs and having an immediate and lasting impact on people's lives. Services like Nokia Life Tools and Ovi Mail, combined with the mobile phones we're launching today, bring powerful solutions that can be the gateway to knowledge, entertainment and people, without the need for a PC."

Nokia 2730 Classic
The Nokia 2730 Classic sports a candy bar design with a 2 MP camera along with video capture and a 2-inch QVGA screen. Nokia claims that it is its most affordable 3G phone that offers faster access to the Internet. Dual Radio band consists of GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 or WCDMA 900 / 2100 or 850 / 1900. Additionally, it sports features like Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, EDGE, GPRS, and WAP 2.0. Along with FM radio, it ships with Nokia Life Tools software suit. Other features include Opera Mini, Maps 1.0, email clients, and Nokia Xpress Audio messaging. Also included are a 1GB memory card, and it could start shipping in 2009 Q3 at around Euro 80, which is approximately Rs. 5155/-.

Nokia 2720 Fold
This mobile phone is a compact series 40 clamshell with dual radio bands EGSM 900/1800 and GSM 850/1900, GPRS and Bluetooth. Available in black or deep red colour schemes, it has a 1.3 MP camera, FM radio, MP3 OviMail access and option for radio recording. Its main screen is 1.8 inch 128x160 TFT and the secondary screen measures 1.36 inches with a 128x160 TFT. Nokia plans to ship it with Nokia Life Tools software suite in select markets. With a talk time of around 5 hours and a standby time of around 18 days, it is due for release in Q3 of 2009 at an estimated price of around 55 Euros or Rs. 3576/- pre subsidy and tax rates.

Nokia 7020
This mobile phone is a fashion clamshell that comes with a metal finish and changing shell colours. With a maindisplay of 320x240 QVGA, it has a secondary 160x128 display. With a 2 MP camera, it has a FM radio and is available in a choice of colors such as graphite, hot pink, or silver and blue. It is a quad band EGSM EDGE device that ships with Nokia Life Tools suit in select countries. It also includes Ovi share for pictures, Ovi Store, Nokia Messaging, Opera Mini and Maps. Featuring an accelerometer that can be used to wake up the secondary screen by typing twice, it is due to ship in Q4 of 2009 at an estimated cost of 90 euros or Rs. 5799/-.
