You can save your battery life by turning down these applications, or choosing screen savers with lesser animation. To prolong your battery life even further, simply switch off your animations or screen savers. You may also switch off the vibrating mode if you don't need it. Most phones also have backlights, so turning them off or reducing their level can also help save battery life.

However, if you constantly outdoors and not close to a charging point, then you might consider using wallpapers and themes with lesser or no animation at all.

Some mobile phones use active applications especially with games, internet, and other handy programs. Some of these applications keep running in the background if you don't exit them properly. So, if you receive a call when in the middle of such applications, exit them properly before you take the call. Many phones use Bluetooth for communication, so if you don't require Bluetooth, it's a good idea to shut it down. Follow other simple tips like avoiding conversations that are too long, for which you can always use your land line if you are in proximity of one. In this way, you will be able to save on battery life, which can become a crucial issue in case of emergencies.

If you are worried that your conversations take up too much of your battery life, always keep a spare battery with you so that you don’t run out of battery power at crucial moments. At the same time, following a few guidelines will help you get the maximum out of your present battery. After prolonged use, the polarities of the battery and the battery posts of your handset could get corroded. Use a soft cloth to clean away the corrosion, and you'll surely get more out of your battery life.

If you really value your expensive mobile, forget duplicate batteries. They are really dangerous to use and can even explode while recharging. Remember the incidents in the newspapers and on TV? Go in for the originals, which can be simply recognized with the hologram identification on them. Use good charging practices like not waiting till the battery discharges completely, and charging the battery completely when you put your phone for recharge.
