Tips on Protect Your Mobile Phone in Rain During Monsoon

Now that the monsoons are near, you must be really anxious at the back of your mind about protecting your precious mobile handset from the rains. So, if your handset is not waterproof, there's no way you are going to make your handset waterproof yourself. However, follow a few tips mentioned in this article and you will surely be able to protect your mobile from the rains.

The simplest way to protect your mobile is to carry a plastic bag with you every where. You'll surely find the plastic bags lying around your house quite handy. However, avoid the thinner ones as they have a tendency to tear. Simply put your mobile inside and wrap the bag around it many times. Zip lock bags also come in handy, and you can get one from a nearby general store or supermarket. Since there are various sizes available, you can check if the one you buy actually fits your mobile phone.

People with touch screen mobiles may find it difficult to use their phones through a plastic bag, but in the end, you really want to protect your mobile from the rains! If you use a transparent bag, then you might be able to read and even reply to messages through the plastic bag, but if you want to answer a call, you'll surely need to take the mobile out of it.

Some people make holes in the bag to be able to hear and speak, but then the whole purpose of keeping the mobile safe from the rains is lost. Sometimes, even while maintaining due care, a few rain drops can get inside the plastic bag. In this case, use a clean handkerchief or a dry cloth to keep your mobile phone clean.

If your handset does get wet, don't get agitated or instinctive, but keep your cool. First of all examine if there's no water in the handset ports. Take care not to charge a wet mobile right away, and avoid recharging even if you suspect that some water has seeped into the mobile. You could easily damage your mobile if you go ahead. Also, avoid a faulty or a damp socket to recharge your mobile or else you could end up short circuiting it.

Another way of drying up your mobile is to use a hair dryer. However, you should be an expert in opening the case and dismantling the handset yourself. If your phone is under warranty and you open up your phone, you can be sure that you've lost your warranty. If you use a hairdryer to dry your mobile, don't use the maximum heat setting and don't keep the dryer too close to your phone else you'll end up melting a few crucial parts.

So, you'll have to throw your handset away for it will be no good at all. Another way of keeping your handset dry is to find a waterproof case the size of your mobile and keep a few pouches of silica gel in it. This will absorb the moisture in the phone and keep the circuit nice and dry.

Keeping your mobile safe and dry will help you keep in touch with friends and family in case of emergencies and unexpected situations, which are quite common during monsoons in our country.
