Nokia Launches 5230 & 5530 XpressMusic Touch Screen Phones in India

The latest additions to Nokia's thriving catalogue include Nokia 5230 and Nokia 5530 XpressMusic. The two mobile phones have been built on the existing Nokia 5800 XpressMusic design.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Vineet Taneja, Director Marketing Nokia India said, "As the market leader, Nokia's value proposition is to offer products that combine aesthetics, technology and ease of use. Nokia's touch devices are also based on these strengths and with the new Nokia 5230 and Nokia 5530 XpressMusic we aim to give our consumers, phones that look great, provide enhanced touch and music experience and, at the same time, are competitively priced."

The Nokia 5230 is positioned as an affordable touch screen phone. It is embedded with rich entertainment features with a playback time of 33 hours.

The main features of Nokia 5230 include:

* It is embedded with a proximity sensor, accelerometer and handwriting recognition support
* 3.5mm earphone socket
* MicroSD card support
* 3G, EDGE/GPRS

* GPS with A-GPS support (Ovi Maps)

The Ovi Store may be easily accessed from the home screen of the phone and customers may begin downloading instantaneously. They may personalize their phones with popular apps and games. The other features include a Media Bar with quick access to user's favorite media and applications, like music, photos, YouTube or Ovi Share. What's more, in select markets the Nokia 5230 will include the Music service. Besides, the Nokia 5230 features innovative contacts bar features and thumbnail images of about 20 close friends and provides access to them and their communications history including emails, phone calls, photos or other social media updates. The Nokia 5230 will be available in the fourth quarter of 2009 with an attractive price of Rs. 10,000 /-

The second mobile phone is Nokia 5530 XpressMusic which has home screen feature embedded with one touch shortcuts to content and social networks, like Facebook and MySpace. Nokia 5530 XpressMusic has an innovative 'people carousel' and features thumbnail images of up to 20 friends with access to their communications history through emails, phone calls, photos or other social media updates. This music mobile phone will be priced at Rs. 13999 /- excluding taxes.

The major difference between Nokia 5230 and Nokia 5530 XpressMusic is that the 5230 mobile has GPS but lacks Wi-Fi & Nokia 5530 is equipped with Wi-Fi but lacks GPS.
