LG Launches LG-GD910 Mobile: World's First 'Wrist Watch Phone'

LG-GD910 is the first ever wrist phone watch and is proudly announced by LG; thereby making an early entry into the "world's first" claim for the year 2009. It was noted in December that LG-GD910 will be sold exclusively in Europe in the second half of 2009.

How else can you reenact (sic) those scenes from your favorite (sic) sci-fi or spy movie?"

The LG-GD910 is ideal for keeping self amused and there is more substance to the phone. There is a 7.2Mbps HSDPA along with a front facing video camera. This makes video calling easy and the voice commands may be used to make calls and check contacts without actually connecting a Bluetooth headset.

In addition to this, the all new LG-GD910 features a 1.43 in touch sensitive screen. The menus are designed with this in mind as the buttons are considerably large making the usage much simpler. The price is yet to be revealed and here is hoping that a watch phone with a touch screen should bring users eternal happiness and make the year 2009 a very good year for all.

Rumored: Microsoft to introduce 'Pink' Smartphone?

The latest rumor in the air is about a smartphone from Microsoft. This mysterious pink smartphone project is likely to be launched in 2010. Microsoft has denied its plans to foray into the mobile phone market with its own brand of phones. Hence the latest rumors are causing a lot of curiosity.

The launch of a phone with its own brand name may be counter productive for Microsoft as it will put partners like "HTC" in a difficult situation. Samsung and others who license windows Mobile will also be put in the same league. But Microsoft, on the other hand, thinks they have given ample liberty. The companies have developed their own custom UI's over the underlying Windows Mobile OS.

ZDNet's Mary Jo Foley said, her understanding of "Pink" is that it is a Microsoft-branded phone running a custom UI on top of Windows Mobile 7. It was developed with what was left of the Danger team and aimed at the Sidekick market.

The much in news rumor originated from a recent report that stated that Microsoft had availed services of an ad agency to create a campaign for the much talked about Microsoft 'Pink Project'.

Wrold's 8 Most Expensive Mobile Phones

What started as two-way radios or mobile rigs in taxicabs, police cruisers and ambulances in the US, has today become an intrinsic part of out lives. Recognizable mobile phones with direct dialing have existed at least since the 1950s. Since then mobile phones have traversed miles to cross the 3G (3rd generation) milestone.

Mobiles, today, are just not essential but have become an important status symbol. Feeling the public pulse, and correctly sensing that there is a niche market for obscenely priced mobiles, manufacturers are developing handsets that cost many thousand dollars.

To know more about the world's most expensive mobile phones, read on.

1. Goldvish Le million:

Price: $1,000,000
This is the most expensive mobile phone in the world according the Guiness Books of Records.

The phone features a blinding 120 carats worth of VVS-1 grade diamonds. If $1 million is too much for you, the Geneva-based Goldvish also offer several other diamond-encrusted 18k gold models in a choice of rose, yellow, or white, starting at a more reasonable $25,600.

2. Vertu Signature Cobra:

Price: $310,000
Vertu is now taking orders for the Signature Cobra, designed by French jeweller Boucheron, but you better be quick as only eight are being made. The Cobra will feature one pear-cut diamond, one round white diamond, two emerald eyes and 439 rubies.

Vertu will also be offering a 'cheaper' version, ruby free, at $115,000.

3. Sony Ericsson Black Diamond:

Price: $300,000
The mobile has Quad-band with Wi-Fi, an Intel 400Mhz processor and a touch sensitive 2? screen. This Sony Ericsson Mobile has 128mb memory and comes with a 2Gb SD card for external storage and a 4 megapixel camera.

4. Vertu Diamond:

Price: $88,000
The Diamond is Vertu's premium range of high-end mobile phones. As the name suggests, the handsets features diamonds encrusted in a platinum base. Only 200 of the handsets are being produced.

5. Motorola V220 Special Edition:

Price: $51,800
Austrian designer Peter Aloisson has taken a standard Motorola, studded it with 1,200 diamonds and added a keyboard inlaid with 18 carat gold. The outcome is simply spectacular.

6. Gold Edition Nokia 8800 Phone:

Price: $2,700
If you have $2,700 to spare, you can now buy the Nokia 8800 in 24K gold. The mobile phone includes a 0.5 mega pixel SVGA camera, 64 MB of internal memory, 64 voice polyphonic rigntones, FM Radio, Mp3 Player, video recording and 180 minutes' talk time.

The Gold Edition includes a special edition box and charging dock!

7. Mobiado Professional EM (wood):

Price: $1,900
The Mobiado Professional EM, is a wood-clad upgrade of an earlier Nokia-based phone that includes a 1.3 megapixel camera, music player, FM radio, Bluetooth. According to Mobiado, it's the first production phone with titanium buttons. Only 200 are being made and each one has its number engraved on the back.

8. Bang & Olufsen (Samsung) Serene:

Price: $1,250
Bang & Olufsen hooked up with Samsung to design the sleek but unconventional Serene. The phone has a built-in motor to assist you in opening and closing the phone.

It's not very practical, however, as it requires a special screwdriver to access the battery and the SIM card. Its circular keypad will take some getting used to.

Also, for some strange reason the maker has positioned the camera lens on one side of the device, which will make it difficult to align snapshots via the viewfinder on the display.

Mobile Social Networking: Another Dimension for Communication

In present times, human awareness has advanced to the digital world opening up yet another dimension for communication. With the advent of the mobile phone, it has become yet another tool for communication through the digital medium. In the modern cyber age, it is not essential for people to be physically present in front of each other to socialize. So, a physically visible audience is not the priority, since the cyber world allows people to communicate and socialize digitally with each other.

Social Networking has revolutionized the way people socialize with each other. Social networks have sprung up all over the internet so that people with common interests can group together and share their views. In this manner, social networks provide a more impersonal way to socialize with people whom we may be able to communicate with instantly through digital networks, but may still find it difficult to meet personally once in a lifetime.
Mobile phones have given a new definition to social networking in the form of mobile social networking. An extension to accessing the cyber world through computers, the availability of GPRS, WAP, and hopefully 3G, the mobile phone has become an apt tool for avid social net workers around the world. Computers gave folks the world over the ability to define their social lifestyle through a digital medium, but mobile phones have driven this concept further and have provided a new dimension to the social lifestyles of social net workers.

Yet another development on this front is that mobile companies are tying up with a variety of social networking sites so that they can be accessed through mobile phones. So, now it could be possible to access social networking sites like Facebook or twitter through these new age devices so that you can stay in touch with your friends and online acquaintances continuously. These sites are also specially designed so that they can fit your mobile phone’s relatively small screen.

Social networking has also provided a platform for exchanging ideas without restriction on a global basis without fear of suppression or prejudice. Porting this characteristic to your mobile phone makes it easier and more convenient for people to be avid social net workers given the already existing possibilities through personal computers. With the unlocking of the vast potential of social networking through mobile phones, you can access various sites like Fring, Gtalk, Nimbuzz, Skype, Yahoo! and others to experience this newfound charm of social networking.

At the moment, one can be only positive about what the future holds for us, but social networking through mobile phones will also see its heyday in the days to come.
